On February, Alliance Française de Suva decided to focus his cultural events on environment. Movie, exhibition, workshops, cooking classes, ... Alliance provides events for all tastes! As part of the environment month, we are pleased to open our new Photography Contest on the theme "Untouched Nature".

If you live in Fiji Islands, are over 18, and are an amateur/ semi-professional photographer, then send your photograph to the Alliance Française of Suva to enter this contest.

All photos will be judged locally and then 15 winners (1st and 2nd winners included) will be selected to feature their work in the Alliance Française de Suva, from Thursday 28^th February to Friday 15th March. The first prize is $200 in cash, the second is $100. A prizes ceremony and a free and open-to-all cocktail will be held at Alliance Française on Thursday 28th February from 7:30PM.

Candidates are asked to submit a photograph related to environment. Wildlife, landscapes, underwater, animals, vegetal... Show us what an untouched nature means for you.

The jury will base their judgement on the quality of the work as well as its originality.

RULES OF PHOTO CONTEST:

• Photos under the theme of “Untouched Nature”
• The contest is open to any nationality and for any age group above 13 yrs.
• Each photographer may submit a photo in JPEG format and send the information needed (see above) to culture@af-fiji.org
• By submitting the photograph for consideration, the photographer attests that:
•  Entry is an original photograph.
•  S/he created the image and owns full copyright to pictures submitted:
• Entrant is prepared to certify this attestation on request.
• Only minor corrections of the kind stated here are acceptable: Burning, dodging, color correction, or hand tinting.
• Must be submitted before 24^th February 2019.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Pictures will be assessed for their:

• Creativity and originality
• Composition (technical excellence and quality)
• Artistic merit (wow factor)
• Content (relevance)

 

AWARDS

• All winners, including those receiving special mention, will receive a certificate.
• In addition, a monetary award will be given to the top picture.
• 1st prize - $200 + Picture printed and exhibited at the Alliance for 2 weeks
• 2^{nd prize - $100 + Picture printed and exhibited at the Alliance for 2 weeks}

• 3rd to 14^th prizes: Pictures printed and exhibited at the Alliance for 2 weeks  

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF THE CONTEST:

By submitting their images to the contest, entrant indicates that s/he has read the rules and      conditions of the contest and accepts the terms listed below:

• You confirm to the contest organizers that you shot the photo, that you are the rightful owner of the photo, and that you have obtained any necessary third‐party releases. The contest organizers reserve the right to request your copy of any personal release, location release or artist release.  
• Alliance Française Suva & AFK reserves the right to contact photographers to confirm information in the submission form or for any other purpose considered necessary.
• Alliance Française Suva reserves the right to disqualify photographers who: are unable to validate the information submitted on the submission form; tamper with the process; or breach Contest Rules.
• Photos submitted to the contest will not be returned.
• Alliance Française Suva’s staff is not eligible to participate.
• Alliance Française Suva reserves the right to cancel or modify these rules anytime at its sole discretion. Entrants agree to be bound by such changes.  
• Decisions by the judges are final. Entrant agrees to comply with and be bound by the decisions of the panel of judges on all matters associated with the contest, and waives all rights to judicial recourse in case of disputes.
• Photographers whose contact information has changed during the course of the contest are responsible for notifying the Alliance Française Suva secretariat.
• The winners can take part in the award ceremony at the main program premises of Alliance Française Suva, on Thursday 28^th February
