Exhibition Coutume Kanak by Sébastien Lebegue

COUTUME KANAK
20 SEPT > 5 OCT
Photography and drawing exhibition by Sébastien Lebègue (France)
From Thursday 20th September to Friday 5th October
at the Oceania Centre, USP, Suva

Opening exhibition on Thursday 20th July 7:30 PM
Free entry - wine and finger food offered.

Touching topics as vast as the notion of territory, social structure, or clans, Sébastien presents a report produced in 2013 and 2014 that reveals the intimacy of customary ceremonies celebrated during the three great moments of Kanaks’s life: birth, marriage and mourning.
Through the photographs, sketches and acrylic portraits, texts or diagrams, he returns in this exhibition the generosity Kanak people offered to him: a fragile but very alive heritage.
