Alliance Française de Suva
is a cultural and language center located in Suva, Fiji Islands. We offer a wide range of language courses for all ages in our premises as well as in schools, universities, companies and any kind of organisation.  As a nonprofit local association and part of a worldwide network, our mission is to promote French language and culture, but also awareness of French speaking countries and territories is Oceania. As a cultural centre, we encourage exchanges in Fiji and the Pacific not only through events and activities, but also artistic and educational projects. In Fiji, our headquarters are located in central Suva. We also operate in Nadi, and have offices established at FNU Namaka.

Job description

All of the tasks mentioned below are to be performed under the supervision of the deputy director and subject to the approval of the executive director of Alliance Française de Suva.

  • Graphic design and content
  • Create, edit and update visual content for AF’s cultural projects and language course offer for both print and online communications.
  • Define and implement graphic patterns to strengthen AF’s visual identity on the long term.
  • Follow AF’s guidelines and graphical charter to make sure there is continuity and consistency in the marketing material
  • Execute and prioritize tasks according to the weekly schedule made by the deputy director for the designs needed.
  • Adapt each content to different formats depending on targets: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, prints, etc.
  • Social media
  • Manage the editorial content on social media platforms on a daily basis
  • Engage the fans, followers, and partners in an interactive way
  • Increase the fanbase through an effective and innovative strategy + punctual promotion campaigns
  • Prepare and manage a weekly calendar for publications on soc med
  • Proactively interact with online communities across all platforms
  • Monitor and analyze social performance and prepare recommendations
  • Newsletter and emailing
  • Collect content for newsletters and mailings to be sent through Mailchimp every 1st day of the month
  • Update the list of subscribers monthly
  • Send reminders to the mailing list when needed
  • Website
  • Update the website on a regular basis on Oncord system
  • Take out outdated content
  • Suggest improvement in current website architecture
  • Analyse key metrics and give recommendations afterwards
  • Print
  • Manage the printing of posters, flyers, brochures at AF or in collaboration with the local printery
  • Distribute print material to partners and local businesses according to the list previously discussed with deputy director and exectutive director
  • Logistics and technical support for cultural events
  • Be a helping hand to the deputy director during the cultural events and activities (sometimes evenings and weekends)


  • Academic background in graphic design and/or communications
  • Previous experience and proven graphic design skills on Adobe Creative Suite softwares: Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator
  • Independent and creative
  • Good level of English (Spoken and written)
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Good knowledge of social media culture and community management trends
  • Deadline driven and rigorous
  • Great attention to details and ability to make constant edits
  • Will to learn and evolve both as a communications professional and as part of AF de Suva team
  • Curiosity and interest towards French language, culture and art de vivre, as well as foreign cultures in general.

Conditions and compensation

  • Starting date: 10th November 2020
  • 1 year evolutive contract (trial period of 2 months)
  • 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9am to 1pm + punctual support outside of these hours. Possibly evolving into fulltime position in the future.
