Masi workshop with Alifereti Malai

Monday 12th September – 4pm to 6pm. 10 FDJ $, includes the workshop, tea, coffee, cakes and pain au chocolat.

During this 2 hours workshops, the artist will initiate you to the Art of masi (also called tapa), bringing together Fijian tradition and modernity.

Aliferet Malai ‘s firt solo masi exhibition - "Vakatakila" Revelation – was launched in our premises on 7th July and ended on 19th August. A first masi workshop for adults took place in July, as well as 4 workshops with different schools of Suva.

Alifereti Malai
is an award winning artist who hails from Burelevu, District of Nagonenicolo in the highlands of Naitasiri. He is one of the most aspiring and inspirational artists in the Pacific.

He learned art when young and was educated at Mualevu Village School in Vanuabalavu, Lau as well as Marist Brothers High School and Ratu Kadavulevu School. He spent 3 years doing contemporary arts at the Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture in USP.

He has also represented Fiji at Arts Festival around the Pacific and in Australia and New Zealand. Alifereti is currently operating from his highland paradise creating art.
